Eligible diploma streams include Engineering and Electrical disciplines such as Mechanical, Automobile, Marine Engineering & Systems, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechatronics, Metallurgy, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Electronics and related specified disciplines.
Only unmarried Indian male candidates are eligible. Candidates must provide an unmarried certificate at enrolment and are not permitted to marry during the four-year tenure.
Indian Navy Apprentice Recruitment Selection Process
The Indian Navy Apprentice Selection Process is conducted in multiple stages:
1. Stage I – INET 2/2026
- Computer-based examination.
- Total 100 questions carrying 1 mark each.
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Paper available in Hindi and English.
- Sections: English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics and Diploma/Trade Specific.
- Separate examinations are conducted for Engineering and Electrical entries.
- Negative marking of 0.25 mark applies for every wrong answer.
- Candidates must qualify in each section as well as overall.
2. Stage I Shortlisting
Candidates are shortlisted separately for the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches based on their Stage I INET performance. Shortlisting is carried out state-wise, so cut-offs may vary between states.
3. Physical Fitness Test
Qualifying the PFT is mandatory.

4. Stage II Written Examination
Candidates qualifying the PFT appear for the Stage II written test. It consists of 100 objective questions for 100 marks with a duration of one hour. The subjects are English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics and Diploma/Trade Specific.
5. Recruitment Medical Examination
Candidates who qualify the required stages undergo the Recruitment Medical Examination. Those declared medically unfit may appeal for a review at the designated Military Hospital within five days, as per the notification.
6. Merit List & Final Selection
The provisional select list is prepared based on Stage II written examination performance, subject to qualifying the PFT and medical examination. The merit list is prepared on a state-wise basis. Selected candidates undergo pre-enrolment medical formalities at INS Chilka.

The Government of India makes a matching contribution to the Agniveer Corpus Fund. The notification states that the total contribution reaches Rs5.02 lakh from the Agniveer and Rs5.02 lakh from the Government.
A non-contributory Rs48 lakh life insurance cover is also provided during the engagement period.
Indian Navy Apprentice Recruitment Physical & Medical Standards
The minimum height specified is 157 cm. Candidates must meet the prescribed medical standards and visual requirements. The notification specifies uncorrected vision of 6/12, 6/12, corrected vision of 6/6, 6/6 and CP PASS.
