Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess either of the following:

Age Limit

The prescribed age limit is 20 to 25 years.

The crucial date for calculating age is 27 October 2026, the closing date of the online application. Candidates should have been born not earlier than 28 October 2001 and not later than 27 October 2006.

Physical standards are mandatory for this recruitment.

ITBP Head Constable Selection Process 2026

The recruitment process consists of multiple stages:

PET → PST → Written Examination → Documentation → Detailed Medical Examination → Review Medical Examination, where applicable

Phase I – Physical Efficiency Test

The PET is qualifying in nature and carries no marks.

Male candidates:

• 1.6 km race – within 7 minutes 30 seconds
• Long Jump – 11 feet, 3 chances
• High Jump – 3½ feet, 3 chances

Female candidates:

• 800 metre race – within 4 minutes 45 seconds
• Long Jump – 9 feet, 3 chances
• High Jump – 3 feet, 3 chances

Candidates must qualify in every PET event.

Phase II – Written Examination

Candidates qualifying the PST will appear for a 100-mark objective-type written examination. The examination duration is 2 hours.

The Psychology section covers General Psychology, Intelligence & Creativity, Problem Solving, Personality, Attitude, Group Dynamics, Psychopathology, Counseling Psychology and Managing Human Resources.

There is no negative marking. The minimum qualifying marks are 35% for UR/EWS/Ex-Servicemen and 33% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL) candidates.

Documentation and Medical Examination

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written-exam merit will undergo original document verification followed by the Detailed Medical Examination (DME).

Candidates declared unfit in DME can seek a Review Medical Examination (RME) by submitting consent within the prescribed period. The RME decision of the ITBPF Medical Board is final.

ITBP Head Constable Salary 2026

The selected candidates will receive Pay Level-4 with a pay scale of ?25,500–?81,100 as per the 7th CPC.
