Application Fee

The fee must be paid online only. OBC candidates have to pay the usual fee. SC and ST candidates of other states get no fee exemption. The fee is not refundable and will not be held for any other examination.
Age Limit
The age limit is 18 to 45 years as on 1 January 2024 (born not earlier than 2 January 1979 and not later than 1 January 2006). Only the age recorded in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted.

SC, ST and OBC candidates of other states are treated as general candidates and get no relaxation.

All appointments will initially be made on a temporary basis. Reservation of vacancies will be made as reported by the Government.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Passed the Madhyamik examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
- Computer skill: Elementary knowledge of computer operation, with typing speed of 20 words per minute in English or 10 words per minute in Bengali. Candidates must choose this option at the time of application.
- Language: Ability to read, write and speak Bengali. This is not required for candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali.
- Nationality: Citizen of India, or such other nationals as declared eligible by the Government of India.
Reservation benefits are available to SC, ST and OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates of West Bengal, PwBD candidates (40% and above), Ex-Servicemen, Meritorious Sportspersons and EWS candidates of West Bengal.
Selection Process
- Part-I – Objective Type examination
- Part-II – Conventional Type (written) examination, for a limited number of candidates who qualify in Part-I
- Test of computer operation knowledge and typing, for candidates who qualify in Part-I and Part-II
- Medical examination and police verification of antecedents
The final merit list will be prepared on the total marks of Part-I and Part-II, provided the candidate qualifies in the computer and typing test. There is negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer in the MCQ paper.

Salary
The posts carry Level 6 pay of Rs 22,700 to Rs 58,500 per month, besides D.A., M.A. and H.R.A. as admissible under ROPA, 2019.
Exam Centres
Part-I will be held at various centres in Kolkata and other districts of West Bengal. The centres include Kolkata, Baruipur, Diamond Harbour, Barrackpore, Barasat, Howrah, Chinsurah, Burdwan, Durgapur, Medinipur, Tamluk, Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram, Suri, Krishnanagar, Berhampore, Malda, Balurghat, Raiganj, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Coochbehar, Siliguri, Kalimpong and Darjeeling.
Only ST candidates of Darjeeling district and other candidates of Darjeeling Sadar, Mirik and Kurseong can choose the Darjeeling centre. All candidates from Kalimpong district will appear at the Kalimpong centre. The Commission may allot an adjacent centre if the chosen one cannot accommodate the candidate.
How to Apply for WBPSC Clerkship Recruitment 2026
- Visit the official website, psc.wb.gov.in.
- Open the online application link for Advertisement No. 12/2024, Clerkship Examination.
- Fill in the application form and choose the typing option (English or Bengali).
- Enter the Photo ID type, number and issuing authority.
- Upload the caste or category certificate in PDF format (not more than 100 KB), if applicable.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Submit the form before 26 October 2026, 3:30 PM, and take a printout.
- Use the edit window from 28 October to 1 November 2026 to correct details. This option can be used only once.
Submitting more than one application is strictly forbidden and may lead to cancellation. Once submitted, the application is treated as final, and no change in category claim is allowed.
Documents Required
- Caste or category certificate (SC / ST / OBC non-creamy layer), PwBD certificate, Meritorious Sportsperson certificate, Ex-Servicemen certificate or EWS income and asset certificate, if claiming the benefit. It must be issued by a competent authority of West Bengal on or before the closing date.
- Photo ID: Madhyamik or equivalent certificate with photograph, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID (EPIC), Driving Licence, or any other State or Central Government ID.
- Madhyamik or equivalent certificate as proof of age.
- Appendix-I certificate, only for PwBD candidates opting for a scribe or compensatory time.
