Overview

The Income Tax Department, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry has released the Stenographer Grade-I Recruitment 2026 notification on 03 September 2026, inviting offline applications for 146 Stenographer Grade-I vacancies. The recruitment is being conducted on a deputation basis, making it suitable for eligible serving Government officers who meet the prescribed service conditions.

This is not an open recruitment for fresh candidates; only eligible officers from Government departments who satisfy the deputation criteria can apply.

The offline application process is currently open, and the completed application must reach the prescribed authority on or before 30 October 2026 through the proper channel.

Eligible candidates can be up to 56 years of age and must either:

- Hold an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department, or

- Have 10 years of regular service in Pay Level-4 (or equivalent), along with fulfilling the other deputation conditions mentioned in the notification.

The selection process will be conducted according to Income Tax Department deputation recruitment guidelines and is expected to include scrutiny of applications, eligibility verification through the proper channel, and document verification. Selected candidates will be appointed as Stenographer Grade-I in the Tamil Nadu & Puducherry region on a deputation basis.
