• General disciplines: Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, along with a qualifying NET/SET (or exemption via a Ph.D. awarded as per applicable UGC regulations).
• Business Management: Bachelor's Degree in any discipline and Master's Degree in Business Administration/PGDM/C.A./ICWA/M.Com with First Class or equivalent, plus two years of professional experience after acquiring the Master's degree.
• Fine Arts: Master's degree with 55% marks along with NET/SET or Ph.D. as per UGC norms, OR a traditional/professional artist with a Bachelor's degree and specified performance experience as detailed in the official notification.
• Pharmaceutical Sciences: A basic degree in pharmacy (B. Pharm.), registration as a pharmacist under the applicable Pharmacy Law, and a First Class Master's Degree in the appropriate branch of specialization in pharmacy.
• Inter Institutional Computer Centre: B.E./B.Tech./B.S. and M.E./M.Tech./M.S. (or Integrated M.Tech.) in a relevant branch with First Class, OR B.E./B.Tech. and MCA with First Class, OR a three-year graduation with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and MCA with First Class along with two years of relevant post-MCA experience.

Candidates whose Ph.D. was awarded under the pre-July 2009 regime may be exempted from NET/SET subject to conditions specified in the official notification regarding mode of registration, thesis evaluation, viva voce, and publication/presentation of research work.
