- Applications for Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) posts must be submitted online only through the GDS Online Engagement Portal at https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement. No other mode of application will be accepted. The application process consists of One-Time Registration (OTR) followed by filling the online application form. Applicants must use a valid mobile number and email ID (both verified through OTP), and details such as name, date of birth, and parental names must exactly match the Class X (SSC) marksheet. After registration, candidates must log in using the registration number and password received via SMS to complete the application, select one Division and preferred posts, upload photograph and signature as per specifications, preview the application, and submit it online. A two-day correction window will be available from 18 February 2026 to 19 February 2026 (up to 17:00 hrs) for making permitted edits.
- Applicants are required to pay an application fee of ₹100/- for all posts notified in the selected Division. The fee must be paid online within the closing date and time of application submission. Female candidates, SC/ST candidates, PwBD candidates, and Transwomen candidates are exempted from payment of the application fee. Applications submitted without payment of the applicable fee will not be considered.
- Selection will be based on a system-generated merit list, prepared using the marks obtained in the Secondary School Examination (Class X) of recognized boards, converted to a percentage up to four decimal places. In case of grade-only marksheets, marks will be calculated using a prescribed conversion factor. Ties will be resolved as per the age, category, and gender-based priority order specified in the notification. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the GDS portal and intimated via SMS and email. Shortlisted candidates must report for physical document verification within 15 days, failing which candidature will be cancelled. Upon successful verification, a provisional engagement offer will be issued, followed by completion of pre-engagement formalities and final engagement after verification from issuing authorities and police. The engagement process will be closed after 30 June 2026, and no further lists will be issued.
