HPPSC Medical Officer Application Fee 2026

The Commission has prescribed a uniform examination fee of Rs 600 for all candidates, irrespective of category or gender. The fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or another prescribed digital payment mode. ViewCMSFile

HPPSC Medical Officer Age Limit 2026

Candidates must be between 18 and 45 years of age. The age will be calculated as on January 1, 2026. 

Age Relaxation

A 5-year relaxation in the upper age limit is available to bona fide SC, ST, OBC, WFF and Persons with Disabilities of Himachal Pradesh. Relaxation for Himachal Pradesh Government employees and Ex-Servicemen is applicable according to government instructions. 

Candidates from reserved categories belonging to states other than Himachal Pradesh are treated as General Category candidates for this recruitment and are not eligible for HP reservation or fee concession. 

HPPSC Medical Officer Vacancy 2026 & Eligibility

The recruitment is for 228 Medical Officer (General Wing) posts in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, H.P. The category-wise distribution is provided in the official notification. 

Candidates must possess a recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, subject to the conditions specified in the notification. Compulsory rotating internship is also required. 

Desirable Qualification

The notification mentions the following desirable qualifications:

• Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in the relevant recognized medical qualifications.
• Postgraduate qualification from a recognized institution as mentioned in Appendix-A.
• Knowledge of the customs, manners and dialects of Himachal Pradesh and suitability for appointment under the conditions prevailing in the state.

HPPSC Medical Officer Selection Process 2026

The selection process may include a written examination followed by a Personality Test.

Stage 1 – Paper I

Paper I is an objective-type Screening Test conducted through CBT or offline mode. It carries 100 marks and has a duration of one hour.

There is negative marking of 0.25 marks, or one-fourth of the marks assigned to the question, for a wrong answer. 

Stage 2 – Paper II

Paper II is a Descriptive Subject Aptitude Test (SAT) of 120 marks with a duration of three hours. Its detailed syllabus is to be as decided by the Commission and has been uploaded on the official website. 

Candidates need at least 45% marks for the General category and 40% for reserved categories in the SAT to qualify for the Personality Test.

Stage 3 – Personality Test

The Personality Test carries 30 marks and is conducted at the Commission's office in Shimla. The minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General category candidates and 30% for reserved category candidates. 

HPPSC Medical Officer Salary 2026

Selected candidates will receive emoluments of ?34,000 per month as Job Trainees. The recruitment and engagement are governed by the Himachal Pradesh Government's scheme for engagement of job trainees on a fixed amount.

9. Upload the latest photograph and signature.
