ICF Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2026
Ex-ITI Candidates
For Fitter, Electrician and Machinist, candidates should have passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks, including Science and Mathematics under the 10+2 system or equivalent, and possess a National Trade Certificate in the relevant trade issued by NCVT or SCVT.
For Carpenter, Painter and Welder, candidates should have passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks and possess the relevant National Trade Certificate.
For Programming and System Administration Assistant (PASAA), candidates should have passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks and possess the required one-year-and-above NCVT/SCVT trade certificate in the notified IT/computer-related trades specified in the notification.

Freshers/Non-ITI Candidates
For Fitter, Electrician and Machinist, freshers must have passed Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate marks, including Science and Mathematics.
For Carpenter and Painter, candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate marks.
For Welder, candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 50% aggregate marks.

Important Qualification Restriction
Candidates holding qualifications higher than the prescribed 10th/Matric/SSLC level, such as a Degree, Diploma or Engineering Degree, are not eligible for Act Apprenticeship under this notification. The exception mentioned is MLT, for which the prescribed qualification is Class 12/HSC.
Tamil Nadu Eligibility Condition
The notification states that applicants who are residents of Tamil Nadu and/or registered with a local Employment Exchange within the jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply. The Employment Exchange registration date should not be later than the last date of application.
This condition does not apply to wards of Railway employees, who have to provide the prescribed Railway employee identity/service documents during document verification.

ICF Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process
The selection process is primarily merit-based. There is no written examination mentioned for preparing the merit list in the notification.
1. Merit List Based on Class 10 Marks
The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in Standard X. For COVID Pass candidates, the notification provides an alternative method using Class IX marks/Class X half-yearly marks as specified.
2. Tie-Breaking Rule
If two candidates secure equal marks:
- The older candidate will be preferred.
- If their dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier will be considered first.
3. Trade Allotment
Freshers can exercise their trade preference. Trade allotment will be made according to the merit position and availability of vacancies.
Once a trade is allotted, a request for changing the trade will not be entertained. Ex-ITI candidates will receive training in the trade for which they possess the ITI certificate.
4. Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates have to appear for document verification with the required original documents and certificates.
5. Medical Examination
Selected candidates must be physically fit as per the Apprentices Act and applicable rules. A prescribed Medical Certificate signed by a Government-authorised doctor, not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon of a Central/State Hospital, is required at document verification.
6. Apprenticeship Contract
Selected ITI and Non-ITI candidates have to execute an apprenticeship contract under the Apprentices Act, 1961. If the selected candidate is a minor, the prescribed contract can be executed by the guardian as per the applicable guidelines.
