Percentage required: at least 60% marks in either the degree examination (55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates). The qualification must be held as on 1 October 2026, and the final result must have been declared on or before that date. A fraction is ignored, so 59.99% is treated as less than 60%.

Descriptive test: 30 marks and 30 minutes, held online by typing, with an essay (10 marks), précis (10 marks) and comprehension (10 marks). It is qualifying in nature and its marks are not counted for the interview shortlist or the final merit.
There is a penalty of one-fourth of the marks for each wrong answer in the objective tests. The final merit is based on the Main Examination (objective test) and the Interview in the ratio of 80:20. A waiting list of up to 50% of the vacancies may also be prepared.
Salary
The starting basic pay is Rs 82,485 in the scale of Rs 82,485 – Rs 4,050 (14) – Rs 1,39,185 – Rs 4,390 (4) – Rs 1,56,745. The total emoluments are about Rs 1,14,000 per month in metropolitan centres, with other allowances as per company rules. Other benefits include pension under the New Pension Scheme, gratuity, leave travel subsidy, medical benefits, group personal accident insurance and company or leased accommodation as per norms.

- Click "Apply Online" and then "Click here for New Registration". Enter your name, contact details and email ID.
- Note down the Provisional Registration Number and password sent on screen, by email and by SMS.
- Fill in the application form, using "Save and Next" to check your details.
- Upload your photograph (4.5 cm × 3.5 cm, 20 to 50 KB), signature (10 to 20 KB), left thumb impression (20 to 50 KB) and hand-written declaration in English (50 to 100 KB), and capture a live photograph.
- Preview the form, click "Complete Registration" and pay the fee online.
- Download the e-receipt and application form for future reference. If no e-receipt is generated, the payment has failed.
The declaration must be written by the candidate in their own handwriting, in English and not in capital letters. Signatures in capital letters are not accepted. No change is allowed after "Complete Registration".
