Qualification for all trades: ITI pass in the respective trade from a recognised institute only. The year of passing does not matter for ITI candidates.

Qualification: a regular full-time Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a UGC-approved university. Candidates must have passed in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026.

Other conditions:
- Candidates must not have done, or be doing, NAPS, NATS or the PM Interns scheme at NLC India or anywhere else.
- Reservation for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates is as per the Apprentices Act. OBC (NCL) candidates need a certificate valid from 1 April 2026.
- A candidate who does not submit the required reservation certificate will be treated as General category.
- Completing the apprenticeship does not give any right to a job at NLC India.
Selection Process
- Trade Apprentices: selection is based on the percentage of marks in the qualifying ITI examination.
- Graduate (Non Engineering) Apprentices: selection is based on the percentage of marks in the Bachelor's degree, as calculated by the university. If only grades or CGPA are given, the percentage is worked out by multiplying the CGPA by 10, unless the university has its own method.
- If two or more candidates have the same marks at the cut-off, the older candidate gets preference.
- Graduate candidates must submit a certificate from the university or institute showing the equivalent percentage of marks for their CGPA or OGPA.
