Candidates must meet all of the following:
- Full-time Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university or institution.
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying degree.
- Appeared in GATE-2025 in Electrical Engineering (EE), with a minimum 70% GATE-2025 score.
Only GATE-2025 scores are accepted. Scores of any other year will not be considered. Candidates must meet all eligibility conditions as on the prescribed cut-off date.
Selection Process
- Stage I – Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their GATE-2025 score in Electrical Engineering (EE).
- Stage II – Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview.
The final merit list is prepared on the following weightage.

Salary
Selected candidates are appointed as Executive Trainee (Electrical) on a regular, full-time basis. The proposed pay is tentatively ?11 lakh per annum as per PFI policy. It depends on the candidate's qualifications, experience, competencies and overall suitability.
Candidates are also entitled to PF, gratuity, medical or insurance cover and other benefits as per PFI rules.
Training, Probation and Service Bond
- Training: A structured one-year programme covering power sector policy and regulation, generation, transmission and distribution, renewable energy, electricity markets, data analysis and research, report writing, and stakeholder consultations.
- Probation: One year from the date of appointment. Confirmation depends on satisfactory performance and conduct.
- Service bond: Selected candidates must execute a service bond of ?2,00,000 to serve PFI for at least 3 years after completing the one-year training.
