Educational Qualification

Candidates must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Final-year/final-semester graduation candidates can also apply provisionally, but they must provide proof of passing their graduation examination by 31 December 2026 if provisionally selected.

Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the State/UT for which they apply.

Candidates who studied the specified local language in Class 10 or 12 and can provide the required marksheet/certificate will generally not have to appear for the separate local language test. Other provisionally selected candidates must qualify the language test before joining.

Important: Candidates can apply for one State/UT only, and the merit list will be prepared State-wise and category-wise.

SBI Clerk Selection Process 2026

The SBI Junior Associates selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is the first stage of the recruitment and is tentatively scheduled for September 2026.

Candidates are shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their performance in the Preliminary Examination. SBI states that approximately 10 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability, may be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

2. Main Examination

The Main Examination carries 200 marks and has a total duration of 2 hours 40 minutes.

3. Local Language Proficiency Test

• Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in Class 10 or 12 must qualify the Local Language Proficiency Test.
• Importantly, Preliminary Examination marks are not added to the final merit list. Final merit is based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to the applicable language test and eligibility verification.

• The SBI Junior Associate pay scale is:Rs. 24,050 – 1,340/3 – 28,070 – 1,650/3 – 33,020 – 2,000/4 – 41,020 – 2,340/7 – 57,400 – 4,400/1 – 61,800 – 2,680/1 – 64,480.
• The starting Basic Pay is Rs. 26,730/-, including two advance increments admissible to graduates.
