New Changes in SSC CGL 2026
- A new Paper-III has been added in Tier 2, but only for AAO posts.
- AI, Data Science, and IT graduates can now apply for Statistical Investigator posts.
- Both Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams will now have fixed sectional timing.
- AAO posts are divided into Central Cadre and State Cadre, and State Cadre posts may require local language knowledge.
- Scribes must now register through OTR and verify using OTP.
- Candidates now need to take a live photo while filling out the application form instead of uploading a photo.

Major Changes for AAO Posts
Candidates applying for Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) and Assistant Accounts Officer posts should know these important changes:
- A new Paper-III has been added in Tier 2 for AAO posts. It will include Finance and Economics subjects and its marks will count in the final selection.
- AAO posts are now divided into Central Cadre and State Cadre.
- Candidates selected for State Cadre posts must know the local language of that state. Proof of language knowledge must be shown through Class 10 documents.
Sectional Timing Added in Tier 1 & Tier 2
SSC has introduced sectional timing in both Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams.
In Tier 1, candidates will get 15 minutes for each section:
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
- General Awareness
- Quantitative Aptitude
- English Language
Candidates must complete each section within the given time limit.
Sectional Timing in Tier 2
Sectional timing has been added only in Tier 2 Paper 1:
- Section 1: 30 minutes + 30 minutes
- Section 2: 40 minutes + 20 minutes
- Section 3: 15 minutes
- Section 4: 15 minutes
There will be no sectional timing in Tier 2 Paper 2 and Paper 3.
