Candidates who are already registered on OTR do not need to pay the registration fee again. Persons with benchmark disability and destitute widows are fully exempt from the examination fee. Ex-servicemen get two free chances, and other fee concessions are given as per Annexure II of the notification. The fee must be paid online through net banking, card or UPI, and service charges are extra.
Age Limit
The age is counted as on 1 July 2026, and the minimum age is 18 years for most posts.

The minimum age is 21 for Village Administrative Officer, Forest Guard with Driving Licence and Forest Watcher, and 25 for Executive Officer (Grade IV). Some posts have no maximum age limit, which means candidates must not have completed 60 years. Reserved-category candidates with a qualification higher than the minimum general educational qualification also get this benefit for many posts. Age relaxation applies to persons with benchmark disability, ex-servicemen and destitute widows as per the notification.

Candidates must have adequate knowledge of Tamil. Candidates who do not have it must pass the Second Class Language Test in Tamil within two years of appointment. Candidates must meet the qualification on or before the notification date, 6 October 2026. They should check the official notification for the full list of conditions and post-wise rules.
Selection Process
- Written examination (single paper, OMR-based)

The exam lasts three hours, and the minimum qualifying mark is 90. Parts B and C are evaluated only if the candidate scores at least 40% (60 marks) in Part A. The merit list is prepared on the total marks in the written exam. Differently abled candidates who studied only English can opt for General English instead of the Tamil test.
