The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 08 of 2026 for 518 posts in four departments: Agriculture Production, Health and Medical Education, Higher Education, and Labour and Employment. The fee must be paid online by net banking, credit card or debit card. It is not refundable, and it cannot be adjusted against any other exam. Applications without the fee are rejected.
Age Limit
The age is counted as on 1 January 2026. The minimum is 18 years, since candidates must not be born after 1 January 2008.

The vacancies are for district and divisional cadres. The Junior Pharmacist posts are the largest group, with the most vacancies in Pulwama (40), Baramulla (36), Kulgam (34) and Kupwara (29). The notification lists the full district-wise and category-wise table for every item number in Annexure A, and the number of posts can increase or decrease before the selection is complete.
Domicile: candidates must be domiciles of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, holding a valid Domicile Certificate in the prescribed format issued on or before 9 October 2026. All qualifications and category certificates must also be valid on or before the cut-off date. Candidates should check the official notification for the full list of conditions.
Selection Process
- Written (OMR) examination
- Document Verification (DV)
Selection for every post is made on the basis of merit in the written/OMR examination only. The exam is objective with multiple-choice questions, and the questions are set in English only. There is negative marking of one-fourth of the marks for each wrong answer. The exam date, the centres and the syllabus will be notified separately on jkssb.nic.in. Admit cards are available about a week before the exam, and they are not sent by post.
Shortlisted candidates must appear for Document Verification with original certificates and self-attested copies, including the Domicile Certificate, qualification certificates, category certificates and the printout of the application form. Candidates who skip DV will not be considered for selection.
Salary
The posts are in Level-2 to Level-6D of the J&K pay matrix, from Rs 19,900 for posts such as FMPHW, Junior Laboratory Assistant and Supervisor, to Rs 1,13,200 for Sanitary Inspector. Appointment and service conditions follow the rules of the Government of the UT of J&K.

- Visit the official website, jkssb.nic.in, and read Advertisement Notification No. 08 of 2026 carefully.
- Keep ready your live photograph, your signature (10 to 20 KB), your category certificate (PDF, maximum 100 KB) and your qualification or experience certificates (PDF, maximum 100 KB).
- Fill in the online application form, and write your name, date of birth, father’s name and mother’s name exactly as in your Matriculation certificate.
- Choose the item numbers (post and district) you are applying for. You can apply for several items, but only one application per item number is allowed. Your final allotment depends on merit and the preferences you choose.
- Pay the fee online by net banking, credit card or debit card.
- Submit the form, and keep a printout to bring to Document Verification. Do not send a hard copy to the Board.
No correction is possible after the form is submitted, and preferences cannot be changed. In-service candidates must also send a certificate through the proper channel (their head of department) before the last date of Document Verification.
