Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess:
- Bachelor's Degree in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.), or an equivalent degree.
- The qualification must be recognised by the concerned authority and included in the Central Register of Indian Medicine.
- The candidate must have registered with the Odisha State Council of Ayurvedic Medicines.
- Compulsory rotatory internship must have been completed by the last date of submission of the online application.
- Permanent medical registration must also be completed before the last date.
- Provisional medical registration will not be accepted.
Knowledge of Odia
Candidates must satisfy the prescribed Odia language requirement. This can be fulfilled through qualifications such as passing an examination with Odia as a language subject or other equivalent qualifications recognised under Odisha rules.

The examination will contain 200 objective-type questions, carrying 1 mark each. Each paper will have a duration of 1½ hours. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
The final merit list will be prepared based on written examination marks and will be equal to the advertised vacancies. If candidates obtain equal marks, the candidate securing higher marks in the BAMS examination will rank higher; if the tie continues, the younger candidate will be placed higher.

Salary / Pay Scale
Selected Ayurvedic Medical Officers will receive pay in Level-10, with a basic pay scale of:

In addition to the basic pay, candidates will be eligible for Dearness Allowance and other allowances, as sanctioned by the Government of Odisha from time to time.
