Delhi High Court SPA and PA Selection Process
Selection for both SPA and PA involves four stages:
Stage I – English Typing Test (Qualifying):
- Duration: 10 minutes; minimum speed required: 40 w.p.m.
- Permissible mistakes: 3% of total words typed.
- Only qualifying candidates proceed to Stage II.

- Permissible mistakes: 5% of total dictated words. Each full mistake deducts 4 marks; each half mistake deducts 2 marks. Candidates exceeding the mistake limit are disqualified.
- Each candidate gets two attempts; the better score is considered.
Stage III – Main (Descriptive) Examination:
- Covers Essay (250 words, 40 marks), Letter Writing (15 marks), Grammar & Comprehension (25 marks), and Translation Hindi-English/English-Hindi (10+10 marks).
- Total: 100 marks, duration 120 minutes.
- Minimum passing marks: 50% for General category, 45% for Reserved category (including PwBD).
Stage IV – Interview:
- Maximum 15 marks; no minimum qualifying marks.
Final Merit List: Prepared by adding marks from Stage II (Shorthand), Stage III (Descriptive Exam), and Stage IV (Interview). Stage I (Typing Test) is qualifying only.
Tie-Breaker Criteria (in order): Shorthand marks → Descriptive Exam marks → Interview marks → Older candidate preferred by date of birth.
