Eligibility Criteria
The recruitment is not an open recruitment for all candidates. The notification specifically requires applicants to be trained Home Guards Volunteers.

Meghalaya Home Guards Selection Process 2026
The selection process mentioned in the notification is based on Personal Interview.
1. Application Submission
Candidates first need to submit the prescribed Standard Form with all required documents before the deadline.
2. Scrutiny of Applications
The submitted applications and supporting documents will be examined to determine eligibility.
3. Personal Interview
Eligible Home Guards Volunteers will be called for a Personal Interview at Tura and Shillong centres.
4. Selected List
No individual interview intimation will be sent. Candidates must check the selected list and interview schedule through departmental notice boards and the official website.
Candidates appearing for the interview must carry valid ID cards and the original documents for verification.
Salary / Honorarium
These are part-time volunteer positions, not regular permanent posts.
Selected volunteers will be deployed under Wages, Highly Skilled Category, at the rate prescribed by the Department of Labour, Employment & Skill Development, Government of Meghalaya from time to time.
The prescribed Risk Allowance will also be included as applicable by the State Government. The notification does not provide a fixed monthly rupee amount.
Deployment Period
The initial deployment period is one year.
It may be extended depending on the volunteer's performance in the assigned duties. The deployment is purely temporary and voluntary. Volunteers cannot claim regularisation or permanent retention.
The department can also dismiss or terminate a deployed volunteer at any time without assigning reasons.
Job Location
Successful volunteers may have to serve in remote border areas of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills bordering Bangladesh.
Candidates should therefore be prepared for deployment in remote locations as required by the department.
