Overview

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bengaluru, has released two recruitment notifications dated 03 September 2026 on behalf of the Department of School Education (Pre-University Education), Government of Karnataka, for the KEA Principal Recruitment 2026 drive. The recruitment aims to fill 247 Principal vacancies in Government Pre-University Colleges, comprising 31 Kalyana-Karnataka (KK) Local Cadre posts under Notification No. ED/KEA/29/Recruitment/2026-KK and 216 Residual Parent Cadre (RPC) posts under Notification No. ED/KEA/28/Recruitment/2026-RPC. Both notifications share the same pay scale, application schedule, fee structure, and examination pattern, and are being treated as a single recruitment drive.

This is not an open recruitment for the general public. Only serving Lecturers in the Department of School Education (Pre-University) who have completed at least 10 years of regular service and have successfully completed probation are eligible to apply. The online application window will remain open from 07 September 2026 to 04 October 2026, while application fee payment will be accepted until 05 October 2026 through the official KEA website.

Selected candidates will be appointed as Principals in Government Pre-University Colleges across Karnataka, with KK cadre posts restricted to institutions located in the Kalyana-Karnataka region. The posts carry a pay scale of ₹90,200–₹1,59,200, and selection will be made through a competitive written examination consisting of three papers, followed by the prescribed recruitment procedures of KEA.
