Overview

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), Bengaluru, on behalf of the Karnataka Prisons and Reforms Services Department, has released two recruitment notifications dated 18 September 2026 for the Karnataka Prisons Recruitment 2026, inviting online applications for 869 vacancies across Jailor, Warder (Vikshakaru), Warder cum Nursing, and Second Grade Teacher (Instructor Grade-II) posts. The recruitment covers both the Rest of State (General Cadre) and Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad-Karnataka Region) cadres.

The online application process will begin on 19 September 2026 and remain open until 15 October 2026, while the application fee can be paid until 16 October 2026 through the official KEA recruitment portal.

The recruitment includes 576 vacancies under the Rest of State notification and 293 vacancies under the Kalyana Karnataka notification, making it one of the largest recruitment drives in the Karnataka Prisons Department.

Candidates applying for Warder, Warder cum Nursing, and Instructor Grade-II posts must possess SSLC (10th Pass) or the prescribed qualification for the respective post, while Jailor applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree. Candidates should carefully verify the post-wise educational qualification, age limit, reservation rules, and other eligibility conditions mentioned in the official notifications before applying.

The selection process will be conducted according to KEA recruitment guidelines and includes a Competitive Written Examination scheduled for 21 November 2026, followed by a Physical Standard Test (PST), Endurance Test, and document verification for shortlisted candidates. Selected candidates will be appointed to the Karnataka Prisons and Reforms Services Department under the applicable Government pay scales and service rules.

Application Fee

General Merit and other categories (2A/2B/3A/3B) : ₹750
Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Category-1, and Ex-Servicemen/Third Gender candidates : ₹500

Age Limit

The minimum age is 20 years.
The maximum age is 31 years for General Merit candidates and 33 years for SC/ST/Category-1/2A/2B/3A/3B candidates.
