UPSC Principal & Vice Principal Selection Process
The selection process includes a Combined Recruitment Test (CRT) followed by Interview.
1. Combined Recruitment Test
The CRT will be an objective-type examination of 2 hours duration carrying a maximum of 300 marks. Questions will have multiple-choice answers and the examination will be conducted in both Hindi and English.
The syllabus broadly covers:
- General Knowledge and contemporary social, economic and cultural issues
- Hindi and English language skills
- Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude
- Educational Policies
- Educational Measurement and Evaluation
- Management and Financial Administration
- Office Procedure
- Pedagogy in Education
- Digital Literacy
There will be negative marking. One-third of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for an incorrect answer.
2. Interview
Candidates shortlisted through the recruitment test and application-based shortlisting will be called for an interview.
For final merit, the CRT and Interview weightage will be 75:25.
The minimum interview suitability standards are:
- General/EWS: 50 marks and above
- OBC: 45 marks and above
- SC/ST: 40 marks and above
